Headband FAQ

Here at Bow Baby Bowtique we offer a lot of different headband varieties. Everyone has their own preferences, and not all headbands work well with all kids. That's why we want to show you exactly what the differences are & what age group they typically work best for.

These are soft & stretchy 1 1/4" colorful knit headbands. They work well for some newborns, but tend to work better for 6 months olds to teens and even adults. These tend to run a bit larger than typical newborn headbands you may buy in other stores. They are really great about not leaving those nasty indentations like other headbands may do because they are super soft & stretchy. These can be purchased in solid colors, stripes, or polka dots (as pictured above). Pre-teens & teens love these headbands!

These headbands can also be made to be interchangeable. What that means is I apply a small loop on the headband so you can clip virtually any hair bow onto it. Sometimes moms prefer to buy headbands that are interchangeable because their child doesn't have much hair, or it's really super fine and bows typically don't stay well without the use of a headband. Then, when the child gets more hair... the bows can be taken off of the headband and can be worn alone. Other moms simply like the look of the interchangeable headbands. I personally use all of the headbands I sell- on my daughter, as well as put bows in her hair without any headbands. It's really a personal preference as to what you like for your child.

These skinny headbands are 1/4" in size and are also super soft & stretchy. These tend to have more give than the headbands listed above, and I do not recommend these for most newborns because they run larger than typical newborn sized headbands. I can make these interchangeable as well, but larger bows tend to flop on these skinny bands. They work well for a toddler who doesn't have a lot of hair, and small bows on them. These are also great for older kids to wear during sports, cheerleading, or even just for face washing, etc. A lot of kids wear these just to match an outfit for the day, if they have their hair up in a ponytail, etc.

These crochet headbands are super stretchy and measure approximately 1 1/2" wide. They also come in 2 3/4" size. These are great for brand new babies, all the way up to adults. Bows can simply clip onto the loops of the crocheted band to make this an interchangeable band. These headbands are really popular with all age groups!

These soft & stretchy lace headbands are great for newborns-12 months. I can even make them in preemie size! These are really stretchy and tend to not leave those nasty indentations. I can make these interchangeable, or you can simply choose to have your child just wear a plain lacey band. It's up to you.

These are our super soft & stretchy nylon bowbands. These are perfect for a newborn up to 9 or 12 months or so. Once your child gets a lot of hair, they can tend to slip out more.. so I don't recommend using them past 6-8 months, or whenever you child starts growing a lot more hair. My daughter was born with a head full of hair and they still worked really well for her until she was about 4 months old or so, then they began slipping out. But she has always had a lot more hair than a lot of other babies her age (see picture below). These headbands are great because when they stretch out a little too much, you simply wash in hot water and let them dry.. and they go right back to their original shape. These were my favorite headbands for my baby until she got a little older.
